This little lot are the ones who call me ‘Mummy’, taken this week on our trip to Marseille.

Tutorial Tuesday over on Ashley Sisk’s blog this week is all about black and white conversions. Head over there to read the tutorial which gives some great tips for turning a blah blah grey and greyer photo into a clean, smart black and white shot.
I used this shot of Liliya with her chess trophy. I love her expression but the white balance was somewhat off so even though I fiddled with the colours afterwards I wasn’t entirely happy with the outcome. Perfect therefore for a black and white conversion.
I added a black and white adjustment layer, upped the brightness and contrast and increased the blacks. Et voilà, a black and white shot that really pops!
After a very wet morning and start to the afternoon the sun came out…
We took a walk to the park
catching a couple of thistles on the way!
then it was back up the hill for tea.
Have a great weekend! xx
We are doing ‘le pont’ here – yesterday was a bank holiday and so it seems to be a foregone conclusion that there is no point working/going to school today!
After yesterday’s trip we are having a ‘ down’ day and I finally got around to editing the rest of our holiday snaps. Here are a few to brighten your day in case you, like us, have grey clouds and rain threatening to last all day and all weekend. To see the images in LARGE click on it.
Day trip to Marseille….blue sky, sunshine, sea breeze (of the windy kind rather than the cocktail kind)…..wander around the fish market…..
some fantastic faces I would have loved to photograph but I decided that not letting kids either fall in the water or wander off in the crowd was more important…
petit train ride up to Notre Dame de la Garde…yes, really, right up there…
Then after lunch in Vieux Port a trip on the water out to the Calanques…
Back on land, tired and happy. Time to go home.
We’ve started planting up the vegetable garden. I am bizarrely excited about this. I love watching things grow and I love the idea of growing stuff that we can then eat.
The children pulled no punches about telling me that I am daft. Maybe if we could grow Nutella, strawberry ice cream and Haribo sweets they would come around to my way of thinking.
Anyway, in the meantime we have planted a load of vegetable plants and some tomatoes and herbs.
One day when I do a ratatouille it will be all be home grown….
and maybe, one day, littlest boy will eat some vegetables…….
As summer approaches with the sunshine and the heat everyone starts to dream of long afternoons at the pool and the river.
The warm sun on skin, the cool shade of the trees, a gentle breeze, a splash…..
wearing a swimsuit. Yikes! Fruit and veg plan starts right here!
All weeks start with a good resolution!
Littlest boy and I have been cooking up a strawberry sensation
Keep watching for more details over the weekend…and, in the meantime, have a good one! xx
